Over the years, there has been a lot of correspondence from people wanting to find out more about Bill Whittaker.
Family relatives have proved that he was in fact the same William Frederick Whittaker, born on 18 April 1911, and died in 1992, which I discovered all those years ago.
Not only that, but I discovered that his father, Fred Whittaker, played for Burnley and Northampton Town among others, which explains Bill’s birthplace.
